The shortage of male workforce became a problem within the framework of the industry that produced military supplies. Thus, a growing number of women began to get employed for jobs that used to be done by men before. As a matter of fact, around nineteen million of women took over jobs that were done by men before the war burst out. Rosie the Riveter became a generalized character and a common name that embodied all the women who helped doing the jobs that women had not done before the war. One could see the image of this imaginary woman, which became the symbol of feminism in 1940s, on every second placard, poster and pinup encouraging women to get employed for mans jobs. It was a powerful marketing idea that helped to boost the economy during the war and ruined a great number of stereotypes concerning the ability of women to do mans job. Indeed, a new generation of both men and women was shaped during the WWII and Rosie the Riveter became the icon of America during the WWII. These two facts cannot be denied. As a matter of fact, the World War contributed greatly to the strengthening of the political influence of the United States within the context of the global political processes as the USA took over the leadership of a free democratic world after the war was over. There is no doubt that despite all the damage that the war inflicted on the American society, the consequences of the war implied the acquiring of a new geopolitical role of the USA in the world that ended the era of political isolation of America from Europe, which may be treated as a positive effect of the war. All in all, the price that the American society paid for the victory in the war was enormous but the economic growth of the United States during the war was the fact that cannot be denied.
